FREE WEBINAR:
A neurophysiological approach to treating most muscle and joint problems.
The Nervous System as the Primary Regulator of Movement
Advancing MSK Diagnosis Through Neuromuscular Functional Assessment.
Musculoskeletal disorders remain the leading cause of disability globally. Despite advances in imaging, surgical techniques, rehabilitation protocols, and manual therapy, recurrence rates remain substantial β particularly in low back, neck, and shoulder conditions.
This raises an important clinical question:
Are we evaluating the full neuromusculoskeletal system β or primarily its structural components?
Traditional MSK assessment emphasizes:
Joint mobility and alignment
Passive tissue integrity
Imaging findings
Symptom reproduction
These are essential.
However, they do not directly evaluate the system that governs movement: neural control.
The neuromusculoskeletal system consists of three interdependent subsystems (Panjabi, 1992):
The neural subsystem coordinates muscle activation, load distribution, proprioception, and segmental stabilization.
Emerging research demonstrates that altered motor control and delayed stabilizer activation are associated with:
Low back pain
Shoulder dysfunction
Knee instability
Recurrent injury patterns
Importantly, structural findings often do not correlate with symptom severity in asymptomatic populations.
This suggests that structural pathology may represent a downstream manifestation of altered load regulation rather than the primary driver.
When neuromuscular control is not assessed:
Inhibition may go undetected
Compensation patterns persist
Structural correction may lack durability
Recurrence risk remains elevated
Without evaluating motor control, a specific functional diagnosis may be incomplete.
In this professional educational session, we will explore:
β’ The neurophysiological basis of motor control in MSK stability
β’ The relationship between inhibition, compensation, and structural overload
β’ Why pain is often a late-stage indicator
β’ The limitations of structure-only diagnostic models
β’ How Neuromuscular Functional Testing (NMFT) integrates into MSK examination
You will be introduced to a structured TESTβINTERVENSIONβRETEST framework designed to:
Identify activation deficits
Clarify primary vs secondary dysfunction
Confirm functional change objectively
Improve clinical decision-making
The Clinical Imperative
If long-term MSK outcomes are to improve, examination strategies must evolve beyond structural emphasis alone.
A comprehensive diagnostic model must evaluate:
Structure
Muscle activation
Neural regulation
Understanding the nervous systemβs role in load control and stability allows clinicians to address dysfunction at its origin rather than its consequence.

"Morten knows what he is talking about. His FREE Webinar and knowledge has already helped my patients. "The best since sliced bread".
"After this, it's impossible to go back to the old way I was diagnosing and treating my patients. This method is logical, even for my patients, it's reliable and has given me back the joy of seeing patients again".
"I'm now so so so busy after learning and pactising the NMFT method and I get the greatest results and happiest clients ever, so go for it! - it has been a game changer for me and my clients".
"Since implementing NMFT/MMT, patients response has been incredibly. Improvements I function are immediate and measurable. I no longer rely on generic protocols; each session is targeted and effective. And a great thing is that patient satisfaction and retention have increased significantly".
